BW2E

Belgian Waste-to-Energy, or BW2E for short, groups all 14 Belgian installations that process household and comparable residual waste with energy recovery. In total, they convert 2.78 million tons of waste into energy and materials for today and tomorrow. Every year they produce 1.5 million MWh of electricity that is partially renewable. This corresponds to the energy needs of 430,000 families. In addition, BW2E members supply heat to residential or industrial heat networks.

Sharing knowledge and experience about best practices is central to the operation. To this end, BW2E closely monitors technical developments in the sector. Regional, national and European legislation is strictly adhered to and closely followed. Waste-to-energy is the best solution for waste that no longer qualifies for prevention, reuse or material recovery.
