The VfA stands for disposal and recycling security and is an important link in the circular economy. Recyclable materials are separated, sorted, collected and recycled. Composting creates new life from organic waste. Thermal utilization produces energy in the form of electricity, district heating and district steam. The VfA is a modern energy company. 

Household waste, industrial waste and other waste can be recycled in the Buchs waste incineration plant. The resulting combustion heat is used to generate electricity and district heating (see also ' District heating' ). In this way, the VfA makes a valuable contribution to the recycling of the energy content of waste and takes the path from waste disposal to waste management.
