The 'Recycling Specialist of the Silicon Valley': Austin 'Butch' Kyles

Austin (Butch) Kyles was born and raised in Silicon Valley. He has seen the change from small towns to thriving cities that run together. This growth put a significant strain on our ability to manage the waste products. Butch knew early that we needed to do much more than using landfills to hide the problem and wanted to help solve the problem.

Butch Kyles, as owner/operator, opened San Jose Disposal and its subsidiary company, Foothill Sanitation. His success was largely due to his foresight to the importance and benefits of recycling. After more than 20 years, Butch decided to sell the companies in 1987, and focus on recycling. In 1989, Butch opened Recycling Specialists Inc. Butch's focus is saving the environment for ourselves and future generations. This is evident by providing his customers with a clean and organized facility to bring their recyclables to which provides a positive experience. Recycling Specialists has recycled more than 100 million tons of materials. Recycling Specialists is a small privately owned company that aims to make big changes in the world.
