Retroworks De Mexico
500 East 1st Street , Douglas , Arizona, United States | Computer & Electronics Recycling
In 2006, American Retroworks Inc. has partnered with a group in Mexico, to bring our methods of job creation and environmental stewardships to a depressed mining community. What we found was a group of people eager to create sustainable environmental careers from an increasing pile of electronic debris in Mexico's businesses and institutions.
Three Vermont staff have visited the plant in Mexico, and two foremen have come for on the job training in Middlebury. The plant in Mexico is co-owned by 'Las Chicas Bravas', a women's collective created to bring jobs to the area, a 'sustainable ranching' reserve (surrounded by mining interests) in the Sierra Madre, and CCLAC, a digital divide organization in Bisbee AZ whose leader inspired the partnership.
