City Sanitary Service has been in the Ihrke family for over 33 years. When Ken and Kathy Ihrke moved to the Walker area in 1984 they purchased the sanitation service from Tom and Lynn Lemay. Dan, Chad and Donny, sons of Ken and Kathy, worked the business together. After a few years, Donny went out and acquired a different job while Dan and Chad stayed on with City Sanitary Service.

When it came time for Ken and Kathy to retire in 2001, Dan and his wife, Michele, purchased the business from them. After owning City Sanitary Service for 5 years, Dan and Michele expanded their business by purchasing LaVallee Sanitation in Longville. Their service now includes the Walker, Hackensack, Akeley, La Porte, Benedict and Longville areas. Dan and Chad have worked the business for the past 33 years alongside their crew: Dan’s wife, Michele, and employees Matt, Chris and Eric.
