Industrieweg 12, Rothrist, Aargau, Switzerland | Scrap Metal Recycling

STORY

Successful ones never stand still

We look with pride on our company history, which began in 1924. Ernst Flückiger-Brechbühler moved to Rothrist. Here he found a suitable property for his business idea in the small town of Bonigen. Trading in scrap iron was his vision. With horse and car he collected these raw materials for his family business.

A year later he bought the first Berna truck. He was able to quickly purchase more vehicles for his fleet and it was possible to employ five other workers in addition to the family members.

In 1940, our founder bought a plot of land in the current industrial area with the strategic intention of moving his operations near the train station. A warehouse with office and apartment as well as a building with garages were then built on this property.

In 1941 the sole proprietorship was converted into a family stock corporation. In order to further expand the branches of business, he acquired the first excavator in 1948. This idea was extremely successful. In the same year, two more construction machines were acquired. In 1954, eight construction machines were already in use. After it became possible to enlarge the business area through an exchange of land with the municipality, ten new truck boxes with a warehouse and a well-equipped workshop as well as a covered crane runway were built in 1954/55

The following years brought a further upward trend. In this way, the entire vehicle fleet could be modernized and the vehicles in the scrap iron department were equipped with cranes. At the same time, a large number of scrap bins were acquired to better serve customers. The crane runway was provided with a second, even more powerful crane. The increasing accumulation of scrap iron prompted the company to purchase a modern, oil-hydraulic scrap baling press in 1962. Another milestone was set in 1967 with the purchase of 250 tons of scrap shears. This was replaced in 1974 by a 650 tonne pair of scissors. In 1992 the area at Industrieweg 12 was completely redesigned and rebuilt. At the moment a modern 1000 ton scrap shear with a shear bed of 8m is in use. Many ideas have proven themselves since the beginning. Right from the start, the company was geared towards sustainability. Our company builds on a strong foundation, which is constantly being expanded. Over the years, other branches of business such as refrigerator disposal as well as industrial and municipal recycling were added. We describe our current offers in detail on the individual pages. E. Flückiger AG makes an active and important contribution to environmental protection and that is extremely important to us. As a family company that has already arrived in the 4th generation, our employees are particularly important to us.
