The total annual market is, according to the government organization NL Agency (affiliated with the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment), about forty-four thousand tons of batteries. Van Peperzeel is responsible for the majority of this. Sophisticated logistics ensure that the battery boxes are collected from car companies and wholesalers. Collection boxes - in which residual products can be deposited - are made available free of charge. With a phone call, fax or click on the website, the notification of a box to be picked up is sent to the planning department. A full box weighs around nine hundred kilos, or about sixty batteries. Non-ferrous metals such as number plates, radiators and catalytic converters are collected in combination with the collection of your old batteries or when together they are good for two hundred kilos.
