Founded in 1950, Valley City Metal Products, Inc. is a proven leader in the metal parts manufacturing industry. Our ingenuity has delivered a quality manufacturing process which has adapted to a variety of industry needs. Having been family-owned for since 1972, we have remained committed to a service-oriented philosophy that allows for us to meet your company’s specifications and establish a successful partnership.

Our History

1950 – Valley City Metal Products, Inc. was founded in Shelby, Michigan. Primarily working with agriculture industry OEM’s and automotive/truck spring manufacturers. The main products included Split Spacers, Spring Eye Bushings, Spring Clips and Caps and other metal stampings.

1972 – Jim Frank and a partner purchased the company and property. The team consisted of the 2 partners and 2 employees.

1973 – The partners secured a contract with a good old handshake from Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka Indiana to produce Split Steel Pulleys. Construction of a new 8400 sqr ft factory in the newly formed Shelby Industrial Park was completed late in the year.

1974 – A new company, B & F Manufacturing, Inc., was incorporated and the production of Split Steel Pulleys started. The staff grew to 11 employees.

1978 – Jim Frank bought out his partner and, with his wife Fran, managed the growing business.

1978 – New products and new customers resulted in continued growth required an addition of 4000 sq ft of manufacturing space.

1986 – Growth of the business continued and a second addition finished construction late in the year.

1993 – Continued growth and new business required more space. A 7200 sq ft addition replaced the previous addition and provided ample storage and manufacturing space.

2002 – Jim Frank and his son, Jim Frank, signed an agreement to transfer ownership of both Valley City Metal Products and B & F Manufacturing.

2005 – The two companies merged and provided a strong competitor in the metal products manufacturing industry.

2005 – Valley City Metal Products became a certified and registered ISO 9001-2001. The commitment of VCMP and all of its employees to achieve this standard is evident and remains a vital part of our manufacturing process.

2007 – VCMP launched its first website.

2008 – The website design was turned over to a professional web site developer. New customers became a regular part of the business.

2013 – Internet-based sales and marketing continued to grow and provide new leads and satisfied customers. Development of a revised website and social media campaign continue to grow the business.

Current – Valley City Metal Products Inc. employs 17 to 20 people. These men and women have extensive training, knowledge and experience and produce over 2500 active part numbers per year.
