2013 First Spouse Series One-Half Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin - Edith Roosevelt (1CD)

Description

This is the second coin released in 2013 in the First Spouse Gold Coin Series and features Edith Roosevelt. It is a one-half ounce 24-karat gold coin minted in uncirculated quality, giving it a satin-like finish. The obverse (heads) features a portrait of Edith Roosevelt. The reverse (tails) features the White House with a slightly off-center column and compass, representing Mrs. Roosevelt’s work restoring the White House in 1902. This coin is encapsulated and packaged in a custom-designed, highly polished, dome-chested, lacquered hardwood presentation case and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

This marks the seventh year of the First Spouse Gold Coin Series, the United States Mint’s first coin program to feature our Nation’s first spouses. A minimum of four one-half ounce, $10 24-karat gold coins will be minted and released annually in the order the spouses served in the position. The coins are minted in proof and uncirculated qualities and are available individually. Each First Spouse Gold Coin coincides with the release of the corresponding circulating Presidential $1 Coin. In 2013, the United States Mint will release five coins in the series – Ida McKinley, Edith Roosevelt, Helen Taft, Ellen Wilson and Edith Wilson.
