Industrial accident at steel recycling center kills man in Montcalm County, police say

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A 26-year-old man was killed while unloading a flatbed truck at a recycling center and steel supplier in Montcalm County on Saturday.
According to a post made to X by Michigan State Police Sixth District, the incident occurred at Greenville Steel, located in Greenville, at around 11:45 a.m.
The victim, identified as Daniel Evans, was delivering a scrapped forklift for a local company with the assistance of another man.
According to police, after the forklift was unloaded, the flatbed was being returned to its original position when “resistance was encountered.”
Evans was found on the ground, and initial investigation indicates that he became caught between the flatbed and the cab of the truck.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
MSP troopers from the Lakeview Post and officials with MIOSHA conducted the investigation.
According to police, the flatbed was owned by J&A Towing of Belding, and Greenville Steel was not involved in unloading the equipment.
