US brass mill product imports rises 4.2% in July y-o-y, says CBFC

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) : According to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports of brass mill products by the US during the month of July has improved over the previous year.
According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during July totaled 45.6 million lb, 4.2% higher when compared with 43.7 million lb imports registered during July 2012. The cumulative brass mill products import by the US during the initial seven months of the year amounted to 291.2 million lb, 2.5% lower when compared with the cumulative imports of 298.7 million lb during the same period, a year ago.
The US imported most brass mill products from Germany. The imports from Germany in July totaled 9.5 million lb. Germany was followed by South Korea (7.9 million lb), Mexico (5 million lb), China (4.3 million lb) and Canada (4 million).
Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 12.6 million lb in July. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 17.1 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 12.2 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 3.6 million lb.
