Hanover County to host free e-waste recycling event
A county spokesperson said e-waste items will be removed from vehicles.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Hanover County will host a free e-waste recycling event on Saturday where attendees can drop off old electronics like TVs and tablets.
The e-waste recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Mechanicsville Convenience Center, located at 7427 Verdi Lane in Hanover County.
The event is open only to Hanover residents, with an ID required, according to a county spokesperson.
Items that will be accepted include the following:
Flat-screen monitors and televisions
CRT (old convex style) monitors and CRT televisions
Computers, tablets and cell phones, which will be shredded (hard drive only for computers)
Cell phones and tablets with internal batteries
Printers and battery backups
Rechargeable batteries, which can pose a fire hazard and should not be placed in household trash or recycling
Small electrical items with a plug, including microwaves
The following items will not be accepted, according to the county:
-Appliances containing Freon
-Alkaline batteries
-Smoke detectors
A county spokesperson said e-waste items will be removed from vehicles.
