Canada Life Place hosts ‘E Waste & Shred Day’

Colomba also mentions that “It’s a great day to clean up, help the environment, and bring the community together for something good.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canada Life Place just wrapped up it’s E waste & shred day. The main purpose of the event is to properly scrap electronics and shred any confidential documents that locals wanted to get rid of.

Electronics are mainly just thrown away in our everyday lives with only twenty per cent being properly disposed of in Canada.

The E-waste was collected in a shipping container while a mobile shred truck was in charge of all the paper waste.

Oak View Group’s Marketing Manager Carla Colomba says the main reason Canada Life Place made this event is to “Make it easy for people to recycle their old electronics and shred documents safely.”

Colomba also mentions that “It’s a great day to clean up, help the environment, and bring the community together for something good.

Waste Connections of Canada had a huge part in the event with them collecting the e-waste and shredded papers and distributing them to government regulated local recycling facilities.

Waste Connections of Canada’s district sales manager Amanda Deschenes explains that she believe that as soon as the the e-waste hits the facilities that “They take apart the material, anything that’s of value” and with the material “they have different buyers that collect all sorts of material with it being little boards or little electronic pieces and send it to the different purchasers”

The event runs annually with hopes that more locals will start safely disposing of their electronics and paper waste every year.
