Mondi Celebrated Start-up of Duino Recycled Containerboard Mill

Also, the proximity of the facility to ports will enable it to serve international customers as well.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mondi, a leading supplier of paper and sustainable packaging, marked the opening of its Duino mill in Italy. The business currently runs six containerboard mills across the globe.

Several of its international partners and consumers attended the occasion. It demonstrated the new recycled containerboard machine's production capability. Earlier in April this year, the business announced that the mill had successfully started up.

Mondi's Containerboard Portfolio Ready to Meet the Rising Demand for Sustainable Packaging

By converting its current paper factory into a top-notch recycled containerboard machine, Mondi spent €200 million to increase the capacity for recycled containerboard.

The paper plant will generate 420,000 tons of premium recycled containerboard annually once it is completely ramped up. Paper reels from 0.95 m to 3.35 m, testliner from 90 gsm upwards, and waste-based fluting starting with 80 gsm are just a few of the many goods it will be able to manufacture. Products from the mill will be sold in nearby marketplaces. Additionally, the facility's close proximity to ports will allow it to serve clients from abroad.

According to Klauss Peller, COO of Mondi Containerboard, the mill's timely opening shows the team's strength and dedication as well as its long-term commitment to its containerboard clients around the globe.
