Outokumpu Reached Agreement to Supply Recycled-Content Metal to Alstom
The use of Green Circle stainless steel will enable Alstom to integrate a higher recyclable metal content rate in its products.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Outokumpu- the Finland-based producer of recycled-content stainless steel announced that it has reached an agreement with France-based Alstom towards supply of Outokumpu Circle Green stainless steel, which will in turn be used in the manufacture of passenger rail coaches. The product will be used for the outer layer of the metro cars.

A news statement from the corporation states that the first delivery is planned for 2026. The newest generation of Alstom Metropolis metro cars will be built using Circle Green stainless steel materials, which have a 93% lower carbon footprint. According to the statement, the deal will help the EU region reach its 20250 carbon neutrality target.
Alstom will be able to incorporate a higher rate of recyclable metal content in its products by using Green Circle stainless steel. Additionally, it will help Alstom achieve its previously declared objective of a 30% reduction in emissions from purchased goods and services by the end of the present decade. Alstom's efforts to cut carbon dioxide emissions will be aided by the use of stainless steel, which emits fewer carbon emissions than regular steel.
