SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading European packaging company DS Smith announced that it has joined the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). By joining the independent research and technology organization, the company aims to explore new ways to drive innovation.
DS Smith has been collaborating with MTC over the past three years on various research projects. This collaboration will be further enhanced by becoming a member of MTC. It will drive DS Smith’s efforts to redefine packaging solutions to cater to the needs of the changing world. In addition to elevating its core innovation themes, the development will help the company explore various new fields including automation and robotics, advanced tooling, data analytics etc.
According to Glyn Tomlinson, Group Innovation Operations & Technology Manager, DS Smith, the partnership with MTC and its members will enable innovative manufacturing technologies. The company’s progressive R&D agenda seeks to create more value for its customers, he added.
Meantime, Colin Bancroft, Senior Business Development Manager, MTC noted that it is keen to support DS Smith in the development of next generation of sustainable packaging.
