WestRock Company Breaks Ground on Mill Expansion and Modernization
This follows the completion of the five-year modernization plan announced by the company in 2017.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): WestRock Company has started construction on a proposed $97 million expansion at modernization project at its Jackson Parish, North Louisiana paper mill. The announcement to this effect was made by Gov. John Bel Edwards. It must be noted that the paper mill is a major employer and a key driver of Jackson parish’s economic growth.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Gov. Edwards along with company executives, state, regional and local government officials as well as prominent business leaders in Hodge.

The project includes construction of a new woodyard and new equipment, which is expected to boost capacities and efficiencies at the mill and significantly reduce operating costs at the facility. This follows the completion of the five-year modernization plan announced by the company in 2017.
Gov. Edwards noted that the latest investment by the company is an investment in north Louisiana workers and in the rural revitalization of the state. The critical upgrades will ensure long-term viability of the facility. Furthermore, it demonstrates WestRock’s continuing commitment to Louisiana’s workers, its rural communities and to the growth and diversification of the timber industry in general, he said.
WestRock Company employs around 450 people in north Louisiana.
