IP Partnered with the Paper and Packaging Board to Launch New Campaign
The unprecedented rise in e-commerce deliveries have made residential recycling more important than ever.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Memphis, Tennessee-headquartered International Paper (IP) has partnered with the Paper and Packaging Board on the Box to Nature campaign- an industry-wide initiative to encourage box manufacturers to print an informative consumer message on boxes to boost residential recycling rates.
The Box to Nature campaign messaging is designed to be informative and memorable at the same time. The campaign will focus on providing instructions on how to recycle and easy to recall messages that encourage recycling habits.
The unprecedented rise in e-commerce deliveries have made residential recycling more important than ever. Incidentally, $906.1 billion was spent on e-commerce by Americans in 2021. Still, 2 out of 3 consumers do not always recycle. Also, nearly 50% finds some aspect of recycling as difficult to them. As per recent estimates provided by The Recycling Partnership, only 40% of the consumable recyclable material are recovered.
The campaign, led by manufacturers and brands across the industry, encourages recycling with simple instructions- Empty, Flatten and Recycle. It heralds a powerful message about the impact of recycling, saying that the fibers in the box has up to seven lives, whereas out planet has only one.
