U.S Raw Steel Output Spiked, Steered by Southern Region
The production was 1.876 million NT during the week ended July 31, 2021.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. weekly raw steel output recorded notable increase by 26.8% during the week ending on August 7, 2021, when matched with the comparable week in 2020. This is in accordance with the latest weekly domestic production statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The U.S. weekly domestic raw steel output totalled 1.872 million net tons (NT). The domestic mill capability utilization rate was 84.8%. It must be noted that the production had totalled only 1.476 million NT at a much lower capacity utilization rate of 65.9% during the corresponding week a year before. However, the weekly crude steel production declined marginally by 0.2% over the week. The production was 1.876 million NT during the week ended July 31, 2021.

The cumulative adjusted year-to-date U.S. raw steel production totalled 56.427 million NT, through the week ending on August 7, 2021. This is up by 19.3% from the production which totalled 47.290 million NT during the same period in 2020. The capability utilization rate too recorded notable jump from 66.6% to 80.1% over the year.
The leading producer was the Southern region, with an output of 802,000 net tons. The production by Great Lakes region stood at 641,000 net tons during the week. The production by other regions (in thousand net tons) is as follows: North East-158, Midwest-196 and Western-75.
