Upon reaching its full capacity, the plant is expected to create around 50 full-time job positions.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Timberlink has chosen the South Eastern forestry town of Tarpeena for its new state-of-the-art laminated timber plant facility. The plant will be built at an investment of $59 million, nearby its softwood sawmill site. The construction is expected to be completed in 2023.

According to company press release, the proposed plant would be the second major softwood cross laminated timber (CLT) plant in Australia. Also, it would be the first combined CLT and glue laminated timber (GLT) plant in the entire country. The plant will create significant number of additional jobs during the construction phase. Upon reaching its full capacity, the plant is expected to create around 50 full-time job positions.

It must be noted that Timberlink has been involved in discussions with the federal, SA and Victorian governments over the past several months on finalizing the site for the facility. The $2 million grant from the SA Regional Growth Fund has prompted the company to finally go ahead with Tarpeena.

Ian Tyson, Chief Executive Officer, Timberlink noted that it is quite unique to have a modern sawmill and laminated timber plant on one site. The Tarpeena sawmill had recently undergone a $90 million upgrade and expansion.
