Copper Tubing Manufacturer to Lay Off 120 Jobs at Stokes County Plant
Through the WARN notice, the company has provided a 60-day warning period before their jobs come to an end.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Ulm, Germany-based Wieland Group has announced that it has decided to lay off as many as 120 employees at its Pine Hall Operations in Stokes County, North Carolina. Incidentally, the plant, located at 3990 U.S. 311 North, is one of the largest copper tubing manufacturers in the world and also the largest private employer in Stokes County.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act Notice to the North Carolina Commerce Department on Monday, stating that 120 workers will be permanently laid off. The company did not specify any reason for the job cuts. Neither did it say when the downsizing will begin.

Through the WARN notice, the company has provided a 60-day warning period before their jobs come to an end. The employees will be paid wages and benefits for 60 days. Also, Commerce officials will provide job training assistance to affected employees. The employees have already been informed of the decision, said Glen Maxwell, the company’s chief executive. Nearly 87 hourly production operators, 10 hourly maintenance workers and 9 supervisors will lose their jobs.
The Pine Hall facility was the company’s only operation in the North Carolina region.
