U.S. Nickel Scrap Exports Recorded Sharp Decline

As per data, the primary market of U.S. nickel scrap export was Canada.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  In accordance with the trade statistics published by the U.S. Census Bureau, the nickel scrap export by the country witnessed notable decline during Jan-Nov ’19. The exports of nickel waste and scrap totalled $123.27 million during this period. The exports recorded 17.53% year-on-year decline from $149.47 million from January to November in 2018.

As per data, the primary market of U.S. nickel scrap export was Canada. The exports to that country were valued at $71.12 million, accounting for approximately 58% of total U.S. shipments. The second largest importer was Japan, whose imports from the U.S. totalled $14.68 million. In third place was the UK with imports of $11.28 million. The other key export destinations of nickel scrap from the U.S. were Australia ($6.95 million) and Germany ($4.46 million).

Meantime, the imports of nickel waste and scrap by the U.S. witnessed marginal increase by 0.45% year-on-year. The imports during the first eleven months of 2019 totalled $298.97 million. This compares with the imports of $297.63 million in Jan-Nov ’18. The top three sources of import were the UK ($81.66 million), Russia ($39.20 million) and Canada ($37.01 million).
