New Mexico Invests $350K in Lance Forest Products
The new sawmill facility is expected to begin operations by mid-2020, company press release said.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The State of New Mexico announced its decision to invest $350,000 in Lance Forest Products LLC.
The company is currently relocating its sawmill business from Northern California to a former mill site in Cimarron, Colfax County. The entire relocation process and start-up of the business in Cimarron is expected to cost approximately $3 million. Incidentally, Lance Forest Products plans to relocate equipment worth around $1.2 million to the new location by rail or truck.

The upcoming sawmill is expected to revitalize the timber sector operations in the entire Northeast New Mexico region. The company has already entered into agreement with Northern New Mexico ranches for timber harvesting and thinning. The functioning of the sawmill will help to improve forest health and reduce the risk of devastating wildfire. In addition, it is expected to revitalize the forest restoration economy in Cimarron.
The company plans to recruit nearly 40 full-time employees. In addition, it will hire an equal number of contract employees for logging activities and other related jobs.
