NTUC FairPrice Decides to Extend ‘No Plastic Bag’ Initiative

The initiative will cover 12 FairPrice outlets, 5 Cheers outlets and 8 FairPrice Xpress outlets.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice announced its decision to extend the ‘No Plastic Bag’ initiative to 25 stores across Singapore. This follows the positive feedback received from customers during the month-long trial conducted at limited store outlets. Incidentally, NTUC plans to save a minimum of 30 million plastic bags by 2030.

The initiative will cover 12 FairPrice outlets, 5 Cheers outlets and 8 FairPrice Xpress outlets. The initiative will begin on November 11, 2019 and will last for a period of one year. Shoppers who require bags will be allowed to purchase them from the retailer by paying a charge.

A survey of customers carried out during the trial had revealed that nearly 73% customers support ‘No Plastic Bag’ campaign.
