Portland International Airport Aims to Reduce Use of Single-use Plastics

The program, which was first piloted in early 2017, is set to launch this month.

SEATTLE (Waste 360): Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon is making an effort to reduce single-use plastics via its Green Plate Program, which gives travelers and employees the option of receiving their meals on reusable plates and utensils.

The program, which was first piloted in early 2017, is set to launch this month and will go hand-in-hand with the airport’s other waste reduction programs such as the PDX Food Donation Program.

San Francisco International Airport also is cracking down on single-use plastics, recently announcing a ban on the sale of single-use plastic water bottles.
