The shorter lifespan of electronic products coupled with strict government restrictions on disposal of electronic waste are likely to boost the demand for electronic scrap recycling. The report also mentions serious environmental and health threats caused by landfilling and improper disposal of electronic waste. Incidentally, U.S. Environmental protection Agency (EPA) studies indicate that more than 4 million tons of electronic waste is disposed in landfills every year. This is expected to witness further rise in the coming years.
