DS Smith Introduces Innovative Multi-Purpose Packaging Solution

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Packaging leader DS Smith announced launch of unique packaging solutions, aimed at reducing food wastage. The comfortable and lightweight expanded polypropylene (EPP) totes delivers notable reduction in transportation costs and carbon emissions.

According to company press release, EPP uses hygienic materials that do not get spoilt by food contact. They are washable, reusable and insulated. These features ensure excellent food quality all the way from supermarkets to the customer’s doors. The totes could survive temperature shocks that are likely to occur during extreme summer conditions. The excellent cushioning property of EPP ensures that fresh groceries are protected from bumps that may happen during the supply.

The EPP tote liner could be moulded to fit any current tote system. Moreover, they are available in a wide range of colors so as to fit to different color coding requirements. The extended lifecycle of EPP totes reduces the need to manufacture new products, thereby resulting in less consumption of raw materials, energy and labor. In addition, the EPP totes are fully recyclable at the end of their useful life.

The above mentioned properties have made EPP the favorite for catering and e-commerce food deliveries. Apart from its use in food retail segment, EPP totes can also be used to provide protective packaging for fragile electronics and pharmaceuticals.
