No toxic concerns following fire at scrap metal company, SAFD says
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. at CMC Metals in the 700 block of Probandt.
FREEPORT (Scrap Monster): A fire at a scrap metal company Friday afternoon was quickly contained by firefighters.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. at CMC Metals in the 700 block of Probandt.
Fire officials said the fire originated in a pile of metal, which sent thick plumes of smoke into the air.
A Hazmat crew conducted some testing and verified there were no toxic concerns from the fire.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
