SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The research report released by the United Nations University (UNU) last week suggests that US topped the list of countries producing most electronic waste during the entire year 2014. As per the report, a total of 42 million tons of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and its parts were generated worldwide during the year. Out of this, only 6.5 million tons were recycled.

The report warns that e-waste should be handled extremely carefully as they are found to contain huge amounts of toxic and hazardous waste. It classifies e-waste into six categories- temperature exchange equipment, screens and monitors, lamps, large equipment, small equipment and small IT and telecommunication equipment.

The table provided below lists the top ten countries with most electronic waste during 2014.
