Tolko to begin construction of pellet plant at Lavington mill
Tolko Industries Limited and Pinnacle Renewable Energy in a joint announcement informed that the construction works for the new pellet plant
VANCOUVER (Scrap Monster): Tolko Industries Limited and Pinnacle Renewable Energy in a joint announcement informed that the construction works for the new pellet plant at Tolko’s Lavington mill will begin later this month. The announcement came after the company received necessary permit approval from the Ministry of Environment and the District of Coldstream.
The new plant will employ state-of-the–art drying technology to ensure low-operating temperature. This in turn will result in lower emission concentration and minimized fire risk. Moreover, implementation of bag house filtration technology on the pellet plant and delivery systems will help to improve the overall air quality.
The company has decided to hire local service providers for the construction of next phase of the mill. It assured that the local community will be kept informed about the progress of construction works.
The new pellet plant offers significant operating benefits to Tolko. With the new plant in operation, the company will be able to address the issue of surplus collection of forest byproduct from the region. The plant will also lead to better utilization of its rail and logistics facilities.
According to Tolko, the plant is expected to become operational by September this year. It will create at least 30 permanent jobs in the region, it added.
Tolko Industries Ltd. is a privately owned forest products company based in Vernon, British Columbia. It manufactures and markets specialty forest products to world markets. Tolko's products include lumber, plywood, veneer, oriented strand board, and kraft papers.
