Turkish seamless pipe imports dropped in Oct '14: TUIK

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The latest import statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) indicates that the country’s seamless steel pipe imports declined during the month of October this year.

The country imported 22,420 tons of seamless steel pipes during the month, nearly 30% lower when compared with the imports during the previous month. The Turkish seamless pipe imports during September this year had totaled 32,030 tons.

Meanwhile, the imports were 26.8% higher when compared with those during the same month a year ago. The country had imported 17,680 tons of seamless steel pipes during October 2013.

The largest source of seamless pipe import by Turkey during the month of October this year was China. The Chinese exports to Turkey constituted nearly 75% of the country’s total imports. Turkey’s imports from China totaled 16,296 tons during the month. In second place was Germany with 12,222 tons, followed by Romania with 868 tons.

Turkey’s seamless steel pipe imports during the initial ten-month period of the year totaled 232,962 tons. The imports were marginally down by 3.8% when compared with the imports during the corresponding ten-month period in 2013.
