Pratt Industries to build $52 million recycling facility in Wisconsin

Conyers, Georgia-based Pratt Industries has announced setting up of a new facility that produces recycled corrugated box. The new facility will be located at Beloit, Wisconsin.

JAKARTA (Scrap Monster): Conyers, Georgia-based Pratt Industries has announced setting up of a new facility that produces recycled corrugated box. The new facility will be located at Beloit, Wisconsin. The construction of the $52 million plant is expected to begin next spring and is estimated to become fully operational by early 2016.

According to the company, the facility will occupy 350,000-square-foot on 56 acres of the city's Gateway Business District and generate around 140 jobs. The plant employs environment-friendly water reclamation technology. The vehicles and other heavy equipment will be run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in order to prevent harmful emissions.

Once fully operational, the plant will have capacity to produce nearly 600 tons of recycled boxes per day. The plant will convert the corrugated container boards produced at the company’s mills into sheets. These sheets will be converted into finished boxes. The news release states that the company intends to distribute the corrugated boxes from the facility throughout the Midwest and other regions.

The Beloit City Council and the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corp. are expected to provide incentive package to support the project. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) is also expected to contribute to the package. The plant has already received up to $2.4 million in jobs tax credits from WEDC over the next four years. In addition WEDC has also sanctioned low-interest loan of $1.75 million towards purchase of plant equipment.

Pratt is America’s 5th Largest Corrugated Packaging Company and the world’s largest, privately-held 100% recycled paper and packaging company.
