US opts to unhand steel duties on Turkish steel bars

US Commerce Department declared its official based on declining tax duties imposed on steel, which the exporters welcomed the idea with a warm heart.

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): Namik Ekinci, the chairman of Turkish Steel Exporters Union stated that, the union had been socializing through all the available channels that, the Turkish steel exports were not involved in the damping, to which the American court has also agreed to the matter. He also stated that he always had the faith in the unity of Turkish exporters and was waiting eagerly for their fair trial.  He further added with pride that, this will also be the reply to several other countries who stated that Turkey was involved in the damping.

The US Commerce department had to drop all anti dumping tariff imposed on the Turkish steel bar imports. The department stated that, it was really shocking news as the department assumed that they had a strong case.

The department, at the same time confirmed the tariff imposed on the steel exports from Mexico, up to 66.7 percent, which according to the exporters will highly affect the rebar industry of Mexico.

In an emailed statement, the Rebar Trade Action Coalition; a group containing 5 US rebar producers, combining Cascade Steel, Gerdau Long Products, Commercial Metal Co, Byer steel and Nucor Corp, were shocked that the commerce department didn’t stand against Turkish steel exports.

Raul Gutierrez, the chief executive of Deacero stated the tariff will have an adverse effect over the Mexican exports as well as the consumers of the US, as the consumers will no longer have access to high quality steel at an affordable rate to replace US made rebar. He also stated that the company is planning to avoid their trade at US as they cannot afford the 20% rate.
