Indian BSF Grabs 54 lakh worth Gold Bars in West Bengal

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has grabbed two kilograms of gold worth 54 lakh from an Indian in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has grabbed two kilograms of gold worth 54 lakh from an Indian in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

According to the report, the security force raided Sandeep Biswas’ home and found 17 illegal gold biscuits weighing 1.9 kg and worth Rs.54 lakh from him.

Last day, Five Indians were detained for smuggling 36 gold bars weighing around 4.4 kg in a bus in Bangladesh.

It is reported that the South Bengal Frontier of BSF has seized more than 53 kg of gold and arrested 30 smugglers so far this year.

As per the report, smugglers are using Bangladesh as a transit point to smuggle the precious metal to India where severe gold import restrictions still exist.
