PORTLAND (Scrap Monster): A 27-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was dumped into the back of a recycling truck.
Portland police say Liam O’Grady fell asleep in a bin filled with cardboard that was picked up Friday morning.
Once the compactor was activated, the truck driver heard screams and stopped the crusher.
Officers and paramedics freed O’Grady and he was taken to a hospital. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Also, in Spokane on Tuesday, a couple was injured when a dumpster in which they were sleeping was thrown into the back of a garbage truck. When the driver heard a lot a noise, he pulled over and called for help.
Firefighters arrived and found the man, woman and dog inside the truck. Medics took them to a hospital as a precaution, but they didn’t appear to have any injuries other than bruising.
