Shelby Erectors, Inc. has been in business since April 1, 1997 and is the sole entity of Jennifer Nix, who serves as the Owner and President.  Shelby Erectors, Inc. is a labor subcontractor that specializes in bridge construction – specifically, installation of reinforcing steel and Stay-In-Place metal decking.  Shelby Erectors, Inc. is a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) certified Disadvantaged Business Entity (DBE) and qualified as such on August 6, 2010.  This distinction is analyzed and renewed annually and must be qualified for in order to maintain its standing.  Shelby Erectors, Inc. currently has 143 employees that are on jobsites across the entire state of Florida.  Shelby Erectors, Inc. maintains contracts that range in length from several months to over 6 years and vary from thousands of dollars to millions. 

Shelby Erectors, Inc. takes great pride in our innovative methods of operation and our commitment to technology and making sure we are moving forward with the times.  We are a completely paperless company, furnishing our Supervisors and Foreman with tablets and applications on their smartphones which allow them to submit all forms to administration and contractors via electronics. We also take pride in our Safety Program which we feel is first class and is a priority in our daily operations.  Our Safety Program is also highly innovative and paperless and provides information through technology that is both succinct and accountable. All records of safety certifications can be obtained on any jobsite for any employee via barcodes that may be scanned by anyone.  Our commitment to safety and technology go hand in hand in propelling Shelby Erectors, Inc. to a higher level in our industry

Shelby Erectors, Inc. also has taken the initiative of maintaining an apprentice training program that will bring new workers into our craft.  We have employees who are certified instructors with the NCCER Craft Training Program and teach apprentices the Reinforcing Steel craft – both through book learning and field work.  We have partnered with Adaptive Constructive Solutions, Inc. (ACS) which recruits United States Veterans to enter our program and learn a new craft after they have returned home from their service to our country. 

First and foremost, Shelby Erectors, Inc. is a family owned and operated business which makes every effort to have every employee feel like they are a part of a family operation that is moving forward for the greater good of the construction industry.  Jennifer Nix takes great pride in the fact that her husband, Jack Nix, serves as her consultant and field operations manager. Her son, Jackson Nix, and her son-in-law, Cory Martin, are an integral part of field operations and it is her sole goal that this company thinks “Safety Always” and “Everyone Goes Home”.  We hope to elevate the integrity of the construction industry through technology, training and innovation.
