Wyoming County Sawmill Announced Modernization and Expansion

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania-based family-owned Deer Park Lumber announced investment of $10 million, aimed at expanding and modernizing its manufacturing facility in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. The project is expected to create eight additional jobs over the coming years.

The proposed investment comprises installation of a state-of-the-art automated bin sorter and an optimizing grading system to streamline its materials handling and operations processes at the facility. The investment will also focus on latest automation technology, which will ensure the long-term competitiveness of the facility.

The company has already received approval for a loan amounting to $3 million from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA). This is in addition to $114,000 Pennsylvania First grant, and a $52,800 workforce development grant towards providing training to new workers. Also, the company has secured a grant of $10,000 from the Northern Tier Regional Planning & Development Commission (NTRPDC).

Dan DiMeolo, Plant Manager, Deer Park Lumber noted that the announced capital expansion investment will result in dramatic improvement of its production capabilities, thus making it more competitive in the global hardwood market.
