SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) recorded notable increase during the initial ten-month period of the current year. The cumulative steel production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 3.2% over the previous year. The above countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2018.
The global crude steel output totaled 1.542 billion tonnes from January to October this year, as compared with the output of 1.494 billion tones in Jan-Oct ’18.
The world crude steel production totaled 151.494 million tonnes (Mt) in October ‘19, as compared with the output of 155.833 Mt in the same month last year.
China led world’s crude steel production with an output of 81.521 Mt. The country accounted for approximately 54% of the global steel production.
