SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced steelChallenge-16 World Championship Finalists. The winners were selected from the Regional Championship held 24th November 2021, which saw participation of nearly 1,480 participants from 33 different countries across the world.
The finalists from ‘Student’ Category are: Blaž žerjav Jereb, University of Ljubljana; Dong-Hyun Kim, Polytechnique Montréal; Amit Kumar Bhuyan, Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute; Qichen Li, Tangshan Vocational and Technical College and Jongdoeck Lim, Pukyong National University.
Meantime, the regional champions who qualified for the finals from ‘Industry’ Category are: Timur Sabirovich Gaisin, TMK Group; Paula Renée de Macedo Costa, Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém; Krutidipta Sahu, Tata Steel Limited; Ruibin Wang, HBIS Group and Jingi Pyeon, POSCO.
The finalists will now be invited to compete for the title of World Champion in April 2022. The association intends to hold the World Championship in London, UK, said Scott Chubbs, Director, steeluniversity. A decision on whether the competition is to be held in person or online will be announced in January 2022, after monitoring the global health and travel situation, he added.
