World DRI Output Declined Marginally: worldsteel

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The preliminary data published by the World Steel Association indicates that the world direct reduced iron (DRI) production in June this year has declined marginally by just over 2% 5% over the previous month. The production totaled 7.307 million metric tons (Mt), as compared with 7.467 Mt during the month prior to that.

The top three DRI producers during the month were Iran, India and Mexico. All the three top producing countries reported production decline over the previous month. Iran continued to be the leading DRI producer with estimated output of 2.535 Mt. However, the country’s output declined slightly when compared with 2.619 Mt during the previous month. India’s DRI output totaled 2.414 Mt, reporting marginal drop from 2.434 Mt in May. The Mexican DRI output in June this year amounted to 480,000 metric tons, which again is slightly lower than 499,000 metric tons output recorded during the month prior to that.
