Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- November 29, 2024

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following data details the weekly global market price patterns for the different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the period of November 22–November 27, 2024:

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap increased marginally by 2.12% over the previous week.

North America

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price increased by 2.06% from the week before. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing closed at $3.86 per pound, up 2.12% from the beginning of the week. Similarly, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing saw a $0.08 increase in price, going from $3.68 to $3.76 per pound.

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index increased by 2.06% week-over-week, from $3.88 to $3.96 per pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased from $3.78 to $3.86 per pound over the week. By the end of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had increased by 2.17% to $3.76 per pound.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased 2.12% over the previous week. In addition, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 2.17%, from $3.68 to $3.76 per pound at the conclusion of the week. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category increased slightly from $3.58 to $3.66 per pound during the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased 2.03% over the course of the week, from $3.95 to $4.03 per pound. This week, the price per pound of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing was up from $3.85 to $3.93. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 2.13% by the end of the week, from $3.75 to $3.83 per pound.

China

During previous week ending on November 28, 2024, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded no change on the Index. The commodity price ended the week at CNY 72,750 per MT. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed no change from the week before.wAdditionally, the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing price held steady week-on-week, maintaining the previous week’s price of CNY 68,050 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged during the week ending November 28, 2024.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap increased by 1.33% from the previous week.

North America

The price of a pound of Red Brass had gone up from $2.34 to $2.37 at the end of the week. Yellow Brass was also up on the Index. The price of the commodity increased from $2.19 to $2.22 per pound, a 1.37% increase.

The price of Red Brass inched higher by 1.28% from the previous week. Yellow Brass was also slightly more expensive per pound by the end of the week, rising from $2.19 to $2.22.

USA Midwest

The price of Red Brass increased marginally from $2.32 to $2.35 per pound, or 1.29% higher than the week before. On Index, Yellow Brass was also up. The commodity's price was up by 1.38%.

USA West Coast

As of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Red Brass was trading at $2.41 a pound, 1.26% more than the price the week before. In the meantime, Yellow Brass's price per pound recorded no change during the previous week.

China

During the week ended November 28, 2024, the price of Red Brass and Yellow Brass recorded no variation. According to the Index, Red Brass's price held steady during the week at CNY 37,800, unchanged from the prior week’s price. Additionally, the price of Yellow Brass also witnessed no change from the previous week’s price of CNY 34,950 per MT on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal decline by 0.23% over the previous week.

North America

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire decreased by 0.85% during the previous week. The price of 6063 Extrusions was $0.88 per pound during the week ending November 27, 2024, which was the same as the week before. The price of Old Cast on the Index remained unchanged from $0.74 per pound the week before. Furthermore, there was no change in UBC's prices from the previous week.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire dropped by 0.85% during the previous week. During the week ending November 27, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions were unmoved from the previous week. The Index showed no week-on-week variation in Old Cast prices. Also, UBC's prices registered no variation during the previous week.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has declined by 0.85% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity closed at $1.16 per pound, down $0.01 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' price witnessed no week-on-week variation. According to the ScrapMonster Index, there was no change in the prices of UBC and Old Cast over the previous week’s prices.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price was down 0.85% from the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index showed that the price of 6063 Extrusions has reported no change from the week before. Over the course of the week, the Index's Old Cast prices held steady. As of November 27, 2024, UBC's prices also were flat at $0.76 per pound.

China

At CNY 19,100 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were down marginally by 0.78% on the Index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price recorded marginal decline by 0.83% from the previous week to close at CNY 18,000 per MT. As of November 28, 2024, Old Cast's price recorded decline by 0.84% on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,300 per MT, UBC prices witnessed a decline of 0.4% over the previous week’s price.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices were unchanged from the previous week at $1,250 a tonne.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly increase of 1.54%.

North America

An analysis of 304 SS Solid pricing pattern suggest that the commodity's price has somewhat increased from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity was up by $0.01.

Europe

Over the week, there was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, there has been no change in the #1 HMS price. The commodity's price remained steady at $315 per MT. Additionally, rates for shredded vehicle scrap remained unchanged at $380 per MT over the course of the week. At $260 per MT, HMS 80/20 prices also didn't move from the week before. In addition, #1 Busheling's prices remained unchanged throughout the week.

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was similarly flat. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $260 per MT. The week ending November 27, 2024, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. The commodity's price remained stable at $315 per MT. Additionally, rates for shredded auto scrap remained unchanged from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices remained stable at $260 per MT, as they had the week before. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant at $390 per MT throughout the week.

China

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The prices of the commodity had not changed from the previous week, according to the pricing charts for scrap auto batteries. Throughout the week, the price per pound remained constant at $0.22.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap recorded modest increase in prices week-on-week.

North America

Over the previous week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast increased by 1.3%, closing at $0.78 a pound. Prices for Old Zinc Die Cast also increased week over week. The commodity's closing price as of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, was $0.66 per pound, down from $0.65 per pound the previous week.
