Ward Invests £500k to Expand Metal Processing Capabilities

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Ward- the Derbyshire-based metal and waste recycler announced fresh investment of £500k at its Immingham site, aimed at expanding metal processing capabilities.

The company’s investment in a new Sennebogen 840M crane, which has 50% bigger grab load than the Sennebogen 830M, is expected to speed up the scrap metal movement around the site. In addition, it also expects to achieve reduced container loading times.

The Immingham site already uses two Sennebogen 830M cranes. The addition of the new Sennebogen 840M crane makes the total number of cranes at the site to three. The enhanced speed and material handling capacity provides value for money. The other special crane features include superior fuel efficiency, 360 degree cameras for all round visibility and arm cameras for improved safety

According to Thomas Ward, Commercial Manager, noted that new crane will be able to move 4.5 tonnes of scrap metal at a time. This should lead to significant reduction in loading times. Ward has been witnessing huge demand growth for both ferrous and nonferrous metal ever since the opening of dedicated deep sea export dock facility at Associated British Ports (ABP) in Immingham last year. This demand is expected to increase further as it expects to transport to more number of countries in future, Ward added.

Ward has an annual turnover in excess of £140 million and employs over 400 people.
