Unlicensed Scrap Metal Dealer Fined by North Yorkshire Police

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): An unlicensed scrap metal dealer in York has been fined £1,230 by authorities. The court has also cancelled his driving license for a period of six months.

The incident took place in December last year, when North Yorkshire police intercepted Craig Miles, a York resident with his vehicle loaded with scrap metal. Upon interrogation, the police found that he did not possess valid commercial license to handle scrap metal. Furthermore, his vehicle did not have business insurance.

The York magistrates fined Miles for illegal collection, transportation and sale of scrap metal. The court ordered to pay £600 as fines, £600as prosecution costs and an additional £30 as statutory surcharge.

The sentence aims to send clear warning to scrap metal businesses that operate illegally, said City of York Council.
