Unifi Declares First Ever 'Champions of Sustainability' Awards

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Greensboro, N.C.-headquartered Unifi, Inc. has announced the proud winners of its first ever REPREVE Champions of Sustainability Awards. The awards are given away to companies that make their products with REPREVE fibres made out of recycled materials. The award winners of the previous year were announced during the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show event held January 25-28, 2018 in Denver.

Announcing the winners of the prestigious awards, Kevin Hall, Unifi chairman and CEO noted that it is proud to honor companies that have helped it to achieve the 10 million plastic bottle recycling milestone. Unifi looks forward to recognize more companies in future as it aims to reach the goal of recycling 30 billion bottles by 2022, Hall added. Further, he hoped that the awards will inspire other industry participants to invest in sustainability projects, aimed at preventing bottles from ending up in landfills. Estimates suggest that more than 70% of the plastic bottles in the US end up in landfills.
