Umicore Recognized as One of the Topmost Sustainable Companies in the World

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Umicore- the Belgium-based global materials technology and recycling group has been featured in the list of top 100 of the world’s most sustainable companies published by Corporate Knights.

The company is ranked number 7 in the list of 100 companies. Also, it is the only company that produces or transforms metals to have featured in the top 10 of the 15th edition of Global 100, compiled and published by the Toronto-based research organization. This is the fifth time that the company has made it into the top 10. Altogether, this is the sixth time that Umicore is nominated to the list.

Umicore’s efforts by way of continued investment in clean technologies in order to improve its environmental and social performance received much appreciation during the evaluation stage. The company’s Hoboken, Belgium smelter was also cited for consumption of complex varieties of scrap materials including electronic scrap, spent automotive catalysts and spent industrial catalysts.

Marc Marc Grynberg, CEO of Umicore, CEO of Umicore noted that sustainability has been an integral part of its strategy and business model. The company has continued to demonstrate its commitment to clean mobility and recycling through technology innovations and investments. Grynberg expressed delight at Umicore once again recognized for its sustainability achievements.

Umicore employs nearly 9,700 people across its global operations. The company had reported turnover of € 12.3 billion in 2017.
