UK Ferrous Scrap Exports to Overseas Countries Dipped Marginally

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The official trade data published by the UK authorities suggests marginal decline in the country’s ferrous scrap exports during the month of September this year, in line with the global slowdown in ferrous scrap trade flows. The UK exported 682,711 tonnes of ferrous scrap in Sep ’19, down by 0.9% from the same month a year before. Meantime, the Jan-Sep ’19 scrap exports totalled 6.08 million tonnes, falling by almost 7% from the corresponding nine-month period last year.

The largest export destination in September this year was Turkey. The UK scrap shipments to that country recorded nearly 15% decline over the previous year to 186,161 tonnes. The Jan-Sep ’19 shipments dropped sharply by more than 25% to 1.59 million tonnes.
