Tin Industry Consults on Responsible Sourcing Audit Criteria

SEATTLE (ITRI.CO.UK): Following the recent signing of an MoU, the International Tin Association (ITA) and the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) have launched a joint consultation on a draft revision of responsible sourcing audit assessment criteria for tin. The revision will align with OECD Due Diligence Guidance and meet upstream-downstream expectations.

The new Tin Assessment Criteria will be available by the second half of 2019 and give auditing options for tin smelters to demonstrate conformance with RMI’s Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) and the responsible sourcing standard of the ITA Code of Conduct for tin producers.

All tin industry stakeholders are invited to comment on the draft document here using a feedback form here before 3rd May 2019. This is an open opportunity to provide input to a process of growing importance across the tin supply chain.
