Three Alcoa Facilities Honored with Prestigious ASI Certification

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Alcoa Corporation announced that three of its facilities in Brazil and Spain received prestigious certification from the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The Alcoa-operated facilities to receive the certification are the Juruti bauxite mine in Brazil, the Alumar alumina refinery near São Luís, Brazil, and the aluminum smelter in San Ciprián, Spain. The certifications are valid for a period of three years.

Commenting on the achievement, Roy Harvey, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alcoa stated that the company is honored to receive certifications for the three facilities in recognition of its industry-leading sustainable approach. The certification differentiates the company as a recognized leader in sustainability. Alcoa will continue its efforts to produce bauxite, alumina and aluminum in a responsible manner, he added.
