Survey Reveals Strong Support to Thailand's Plastic Bag Ban

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Results of opinion survey points to overwhelming support to proposed ban on use of plastic bags in Thailand.

According to the survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), 57.69% of the survey participants extended full support to the ban, citing that such an action would help reduce garbage. However, the stores should provide alternative shopping bags, they said.

Meantime, 23.21% of the respondents extended support to the ban, with the condition that the ban should be imposed in a phased manner. According to them, plastic bags should be allowed for carrying certain products.

9.75% of respondents expressed disagreement with the ban, citing difficulties in carrying products. 8.72% were totally against the ban. According to them, ban on plastic bags would create additional burden on them.
