Sun Paper Achieved Significant Expansion of its Operations

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sun Paper announced that it has started a new packaging production line in Laos project. The PM2 commenced operations 18 days ahead of schedule. This is the company’s second paper machine outside of China and is the 6^th paper machine that has been supplied to the company by Voith. The company has achieved significant expansion of its operations by starting operations of PM1 and PM2 within a period of just one month.

Commenting on the development, Aimin Zhang, Project Director-Laos, Sun Paper noted that the experience of starting up of PM 1 helped the Voith and Sun Paper teams to optimize the second machine.

The company press release noted that PM1, with right-hand machine direction, produces paper with basis weights of 140-250g/m².The capacity is projected at 520,000 tons per annum. Meantime, the PM2 is a left-handed machine capable of producing low-weight products in the range of 100-160g/m² at an estimated annual capacity of 480,000 tons. Both the machines are installed in the same workshop.

The functioning of both the machines is expected to boost the proportion of high-quality packaging paper and further strengthen the company’s cost-competitiveness.
